Held in intimate groups at beautiful, outdoor locations.. these photo walks are designed to help you practice your skills in an inspiring environment. Let's get shooting!
Full Moon Photography Workshop
This two hour workshop takes place during the full moon at the Goleta Pier just north of Santa Barbara. This is an beginning-intermediate level class where you will be photographing long exposures of landscapes in full moon light; as well as playing around with long exposures and "painting with light" (seen right). This workshop will be a great chance for you to:
Practice working with shutter speed and long exposures.
Better understand how to properly use and adjust your ISO.
Focus your lens in low light conditions.
Create artistic and balanced composition for landscape imagery.
What you'll need: other than your camera and any lenses that you would like to use (I recommend something with a wider angle for landscape images), you'll need to bring a tripod, remote (wireless or cable), and flashlight.
Please let me know if you have any questions on where to purchase these things, how much you should be spending, and what is compatible with your camera. I am happy to help you find something suitable and affordable.
NEW | PHOTO HIKE
Parma Park in Spring
Get active with us during sunset at one of my favorite hikes in Santa Barbara, Parma Park. We will talk about composition and what makes for an interesting landscape image, as well as work on nature close ups and what settings to use for details of flowers or other natural wonders. This photo walk is a great chance to practice or freshen up on some of your technical skills as you will have the opportunity to practice a few drills using different apertures and shutter speeds during the photo walk.
This hike would be considered easy-moderate with a few hills but nothing too intense. This walk is reserved for a smaller group of 5-10 people.
Sunset Photo Walk
Prerequisite: Beginners Photography Class
Join us during sunset at the beautiful Santa Barbara Mission Rose Garden for a two-hour photo walk. You will put to use the newly gained knowledge of your camera and its settings through a series of technical drills we will practice together. This walk is reserved for small groups of 5-7 people.
